Generating New Ideas In Coating Technology
Did you know Gardner Glass Products was a pioneer in solar technology? We provided mirrors for the first large-scale thermal solar tower plant in the US as a test for the US Department of Energy in the late 1970s.
Located in Daggett, California; this CSP (concentrated solar power) project was named "Solar One" and collected 10 megawatts of electricity using 1,818 mirrors. It was the largest single mirror order ever created at that time in history. In addition, Gardner was also involved in a Spanish solar project in the early 1980s. Both projects were a success and have since spawed other towers and massive projects globally based on the knowledge gained from Solar One.
As alternative energy becomes increasingly important to the US, we have always been committed to doing our part to help find solutions through the use of extraordinary mirror and glass products. |
